‘Assassin’s Creed 3’ Pre-Order And DLC Release To Come: New Gameplay Footage Showcases The Massive Ubisoft Team's Work
Ubisoft's next installment in its historical-themed stealth adventure game, Assassin's Creed 3, is set for a release date at the end of this October. However, it seems that fans working at Game Stop may have gotten a sneak peak at what's to come after the game's launch.
According to a letter addressed to employees of the gaming retailer, the Ubisoft team is working on post launch episodic content that will set the bar for quality DLC in our industry.
The note said that a complementary development team will be working on the project, and stressed the idea that players who pre-order the game will the Season Pass deal will be getting the content for a better value.
Like other major titles in the market, such as Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield, it looks as if Ubisoft plans to implement this Season Pass option for DLC. This will be the first time Ubisoft implements this type of practice. The company will begin accepting pre-orders for Assassin's Creed 3 soon, the letter says, but did not verify a specific date.
Ubisoft began experimenting with downloadable content in Assassin's Creed 2, and it will be interesting to see how that expands with a dedicated team solely focused on creating the content. At E3 2012, Ubisoft announced that Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation will be available for the PlayStation Vita and will exist in the same world as the console version. Perhaps a DLC mode could connect these two stories even further?
The company has been anything but quiet about Assassin's Creed 3 in recent months, and Xbox World has just travelled to Ubisoft Montreal to witness four unseen demos of the game.
From what's been revealed so far, it seems as if this installment in the franchise will take the direction of games such as Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption. Players will explore the world around them on foot or horseback, help out locals, complete side missions, and hunt wildlife along the way as they please. Of course, we can expect Ubisoft to take these elements and spin them in the Assassin's Creed style with more stealth and historical references.
It's all aggressive stealth, done fast, writes Andy Hartup of Xbox World Magazine. We can't stress this enough-you don't stand still in 'Assassin's Creed 3.'
It has been said that elements such as wildlife and weather will be a crucial component in how scenarios play out. Ubisoft has doubled the size of their team that will be working on the game, and it certainly shows in the meticulous environmental detail.
It explains how they're able to pack so much detail into the world, and how it's possible to create labor intensive effects like dynamic weather, (rain, fog, snow, sunshine-everything you'd expect from a traditional British summer) and shifting seasons, Hartup writes.
Be sure to dive into the fully detailed account of these Assassin's Creed 3 demos over at CVG before the game launches on Oct. 30. Check out the trailer below.
