‘Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’ Fans Furious Over Issue With Xbox Series X
KEY POINTS
- "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" is guaranteed to run at only 30 FPS on Xbox Series X
- The said news disappointed several fans, especially since Microsoft's next-gen console packs a lot of power
- Fortunately, Ubisoft is not closing the door on "Valhalla" running at 60 FPS
It has been a rough few days for “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” fans.
After its disappointing gameplay reveal during the Inside Xbox stream that fell way below expectations, the game is facing another major controversy. Apparently, it is not guaranteed that the game will run at 60 frames per second in Xbox Series X.
It is worth noting that Microsoft previously announced that 60 FPS will be the standard for games in their next-generation console. After all, with the power it packs and its promise of improved graphics and faster loading times, such standard is only to be expected.
Unfortunately, “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” could only promise “at least 30 FPS” at the moment as Ubisoft remains adamant about not speaking in finality about the game’s performance until it is complete.
“Ubisoft has always been committed to exploring new technologies, taking advantage of the capabilities of new consoles to deliver the most immersive experience possible, which is why we are excited to be collaborating with Microsoft to bring Assassin's Creed Valhalla to the Xbox Series X,” a Ubisoft spokesperson told Eurogamer Portugal (as transcribed by Windows Central).
“Currently, we can guarantee that Assassin's Creed Valhalla will run at least 30 FPS. Assassin's Creed Valhalla will benefit from faster loading times, allowing players to immerse themselves in history and the world without friction. Finally, Assassin's Creed Valhalla will benefit from improved graphics made possible by the Xbox Series X, and we can't wait to see the beautiful world we're creating in stunning 4K resolution.”
It is undoubtedly a disappointing development for fans, especially since running at 30 FPS won’t take advantage of the full capacity of Xbox Series X. While it was highlighted that the game will utilize from the other technologies in the console, this latest revelation is a step in the wrong direction.
There have already been theories as to why Ubisoft can only guarantee 30 FPS for “Valhalla,” the most prominent of which is the fact that the game is also being developed not only for next-generation consoles.
Some fans noted that current consoles are holding back the development of the highly popular title. Meanwhile, other people argue that Microsoft should have set a standard for games that will be played in Xbox Series X.
Amid all these talks though, fans couldn’t help but express their disappointment with the rather surprising news.
It remains to be seen what will happen when the game is released. After all, Ubisoft is not totally shutting the door on the game running at 60 FPS. However, it is better to temper expectations for a bit.
“Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” is scheduled to be released this Holiday 2020 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Google Stadia and PC.
