"Assassin's Creed Valhalla" is loaded with animal life, allowing Eivor to pet dogs, hunt deers for leather, summon a wolf pet to help him during battles and even recruit a raider Viking cat to join his longship crew.

The process of acquiring a cat in the game is a little bit complicated and involves multiple steps. But once they complete the process, players are guaranteed to have this furry little buddy on their crew.

A player may start with the side quest called Freyja’s Friend, which could be tricky for those who have not yet explored the map thoroughly.

Upon arrival, a player needs to get to England, then travel to the city of Norwich in East Anglia, which is on the east of the starting area. Since this is a secret side quest, it will not appear on the player’s compass or map.

When the player travels down on the roads of the town, they would find a white cat beside a red Norse gate. That is just a few steps away from the house of Dane.

The player can talk to the white cat first and then to the child when the cat runs away. They can follow the child after talking to him, but the cat will run away when the kid gets near.

At this point, the player needs to interact with the cat so they could grab him fast enough before he runs again. If the cat escapes, the player could simply follow the child to the next location to try again.

The Freyja’s Friend side quest in the game will be complete as soon as the cat is captured. Named Nali the Raider Cat, the cat would appear on Eivor’s longship. He will accompany the player on his adventures across Norway and England.

In "Assassin’s Creed Valhalla," dogs and cats are part of the Viking life. Vikings could pet animals whenever they want. They can even hug a cat in the game.

It is interesting how Ubisoft did not miss this kind of detail in the game. While the longship is a crucial part of the player’s experience since it enables faster travel, the presence of a cat makes it more meaningful. The longship crew is crucial in raiding monasteries for supplies needed in building settlements. It's a good thing the raiding party could actually recruit a cat!
