Aston Martin Debuts DBX707: Ultra-Luxury SUV Roars In At Powerful 707 BHP

Aston Martin has taken the wraps off what it is calling “the fastest, most powerful, best handling and most engaging car of its kind” with the introduction of the DBX707 SUV.

The SUV is a departure from the electric vehicles that are currently being debuted with 707 brake horsepower from a 4.0 L twin-turbocharged V8 engine. The engine is mated to a nine-speed "wet clutch" automatic transmission that offers increased torque for higher performance, the 109-year-old automaker said.

“Right from its first introduction, the DBX has represented Aston Martin’s dynamic and design values in a way that proves not all SUVs have to conform to the same compromises,” Aston Martin CEO Tobias Moers said in a statement.

“With the DBX707, we have pushed the boundaries in every area to create a car which sets new standards of performance and desirability,” he added.

Aston Martin said it beefed up the launch speed on the DBX from zero to 62 mph in 3.3 seconds and increased the sense of control and responsiveness in the vehicle.

According to Ralph Illenberger, the company’s head of powertrain, “we have truly unlocked the performance potential with the DBX to create a world-beating high-performance SUV.”

“The huge gains we have found in both power and torque demonstrates not only the inherent prowess of the 4.0-litre biturbo V8, but Aston Martin’s appetite and ability for finding uncompromising engineering solutions. The combination of this magnificent engine with a new 9-speed ‘wet-clutch’ transmission sits at the heart of DBX707’s formidable capabilities and unforgettable character,” he said.

The base price of the vehicle is $232,000, CNN reported.

Aston Martin expects to begin production on the DBX707 in the first quarter of 2022, with deliveries slated for early Q2.

According to CNBC, the company plans to produce 5,000 units of the DBX707 SUV per year.
