  • But he suggested that better news was coming soon
  • Arsenal striker Ian Wright prodded Arsenal to confirm Aubameyang's contract signing

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has yet to receive his new deal with Arsenal F.C., something that could finally put an end to the suspense. However, the Gabon national also suggested on social media that the official announcement may be coming soon.

In an Instagram Live session with his brother, Willy, Aubameyang said that he has yet to get the "papers" from Arsenal. But he quickly reassured fans despite his seemingly alarming revelation.

He said that better news was imminent, hinting that an announcement of the new deal is likely to be made soon.

"Have a good night, enjoy and hopefully great news for everybody," Aubameyang said.

Meanwhile, there could be select personnel who may be aware of the situation. Legendary Arsenal striker Ian Wright appeared calm and even joked about Aubameyang's contract signing on social media.

"Taking so long gonna sign da ting myself @Arsenal @Aubameyang7," Wright posted on Twitter, along with a photo of him posing with a pen poised over an imaginary contract.

Aubameyang is expected to get a better offer than his current $327,000 per week wages. It remains unknown if details of his new deal have been sealed, though he seems pretty happy as of late. Also, it may be best to note that other teams who were linked to the 31-year-old have not been plaguing the rumor mill.

Previous reports said Barcelona was interested in Aubameyang as an alternative for Lautaro Martinez. Aubemeyang was open to checking what Barca had to offer, but nothing progressed.

With the performance Aubameyang has shown since the football restart, there is no question that he has earned a pay raise. Mikel Arteta is keen on retaining him and is confident that this can be settled soon.

"Don’t forget he still has a contract here with us," Arteta earlier said. "We want to keep him and do it more long-term. But at the moment he is with us and I think he should be really proud of where he is as well."

Aubameyang has scored 70 goals in 109 games for Arsenal since he joined from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018.
