  • The new earbuds are designed to rival offerings from Sony, Apple and more
  • The audio company promises that it will deliver the best noise reduction feature of its kind

Audio-Technica adds a new pair of noise-canceling earbuds in its lineup, aiming to compete with other rivals in the market.

Famed audio company Audio-Technica is releasing a new pair of noise-canceling earbuds to compete with the likes of Sony's WF-1000XM3 and Apple's AirPods Pro. The new audio accessory, the ATH-ANC300TW, is part of Audio-Technica's QuietPoint series and is its first pair of truly wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds to offer noise cancellation.

Audio-Technica, which is known for producing high-quality pro audio equipment, promises that the ATH-ANC300TW will “strike the perfect balance between comfort, convenience and performance.” It also said the new audio device will deliver the “best in-class sound quality and noise cancellation in a compact, truly wireless design.”

The audio company promises that the noise cancellation technology used on the ATH-ANC300TW will “provide the highest degree of QuietPoint ambient noise reduction.” Simply put, Audio-Technica is betting big on its newest entry into the TWS market, and is expecting that it will be better than its rivals.

Audio-Technica said the new audio accessory features 5.8mm drivers with diaphragms coated with DLC, or diamond-like carbon. This coating helps the device to “deliver exceptional full-range audio reproduction.”

The device also makes use of two microphones strategically positioned to cancel ambient noise. One of them is positioned in front of the driver, while the other is placed behind it. The two mics work to pick up environmental noise and feed it into the device's processor, which then works to counter the noise to produce sound with great quality.

Audio-Technica's ATH-ANC300TW also has a feature that allows users to hear what's going on around them, similar to the AirPods Pro's Transparency mode. This “quick hear-through” function allows users to listen to conversations, hear important announcements on the airport or subway, or simply hear what others are saying to them in restaurants and other public spaces.

The new ATH-ANC300TW is IPX2 rated for water-resistance. This means users can wear them when working out in the gym, or even when running under the rain. It can last for up to 4.5 hours on a single charge, and the charging case adds 13.5 hours for all-day listening.

Audio-Technica's ATH-ANC300TW will be launched in May, T3 reported. It will be sold for $229.
