Australian Open 2012: Ball Girl Cheered for Removing Huge Bug (VIDEO)
A ball girl at the Australian Open has become popular after footage of her removing a cricket from the center court at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne was uploaded onto the web.
German Cedrik-Marcel Stebe was playing Australian ace Lleyton Hewitt in the grand slam tennis tournament when a huge cricket hopped along the baseline next to Stebe. He asked one of the ball girls to help him remove the insect that had landed on his side of the court.
Even though she dropped the insect while heading back to the baseline, she received a rousing ovation for her bravery from the crowd.
Hewitt went on to win the match 7-5, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, after three hours and 58 minutes.
