Authenticus Expands Events Offering With Upgraded Projection Mapping Capabilities
Visualization technology service provider Authenticus Inc. has announced that it has upgraded its projection mapping capabilities, allowing it to expand its events offering at its facility in Houston, beginning September.
Once completed, Authenticus will be able to host a wide variety of immersive events in its 5,000 sqft projection event center, which will have three walls available for projection. Each wall is 20 feet tall and around 70 feet long, creating 180° of massive screens on which images can be projected. Projections can also be made on the venue's floor, increasing its immersiveness and opening up more creativity options. Authenticus is also upgrading the sound system and installing sensors and software that provide interactive projection capabilities, which will further enhance guests' experiences.
The event offering complements Authenticus' cutting-edge capabilities that combine various technologies, such as 2D/3D imaging, projection, augmented reality, and mixed reality. It provides high-definition solutions and an unparalleled level of detail in its visualization of construction plans. Authenticus allows clients to see their projected plans in its studio, at the current job site under construction, or at the client's future job site, ensuring they are able to authenticate what is being created, designed, and built.
While Authenticus' facility is being used for its construction visualization business during weekdays, on off-hours and weekends it can be used for various purposes, such as weddings, birthday parties, corporate events, art exhibits, and musical performances. It can accommodate 200 to 250 people, depending on seating configuration and the type of event.
According to Authenticus CEO Jay Schimpf, the events offering was something incidental, and that the company didn't intend to use its studio to host external events. However, the company discovered that the technology it possessed was at the level or even exceeded those used at dedicated event venues, so it decided to rent out its studio, especially since there was nothing similar in the Houston area.
"The capabilities were already there, because we've been using the technology for our construction businesses. We stumbled upon it, and I said hey, since we're already two-thirds of the way there, why not invest a little more and create a really immersive events space. One moment you're in Rome, the next, you're in Egypt, then suddenly, you're on the moon. We're always expanding our capabilities and looking for new ways to apply what we've already created, and we'll have one of the largest interactive projected floors in Houston. We've had the technology for a while, but we've realized that there's a larger market, and we can use this to do more things that everyone can enjoy," Schimpf said.
