KEY POINTS
- Stephen Lang teased details about "Avatar 2" in a recent interview
- Miley Quaritch has evolved after the war
- The villain will be back in future movies
Miley Quaritch (Stephen Lang), the villain from the first film, will be back in “Avatar 2.” Lang shared some details about his character in a recent interview and talked about how his character will be coming back in the future movies as well.
Quaritch may be getting a long arc in the planned movies of the franchise. In a recent interview with The National, Lang said that it is “very satisfying” to know that his character is “valued enough” to be brought back in the upcoming sequel.
Lang is excited about discovering more about the background of his character to explore “what makes him tick.” The research will be important this time around because the character has evolved after the war that was featured in the first film.
Quaritch has “evolved,” according to Lang. The actor pointed out that his character will continue to evolve in the subsequent movies. Lang hopes to deliver a performance in the sequel that will “defy expectations” and at the same time “create new expectations” for the future movies.
Details about the plot of “Avatar 2” are currently being kept under wraps. Apart from Quaritch, another character related to the R.D.A. who will be returning in the sequel is Parker Selfridge (Giovanni Ribisi), Screen Rant reported.
With characters from the R.D.A. returning and the sequel taking the audience back to the moon Pandora, it appears the story will be about another invasion. The first film was about the R.D.A. invading the moon for the precious mineral unobtanium that earth desperately needs.
Along with the sequel, the franchise is being built up with other medium like games. Ubisoft Massive has confirmed that a game based on the franchise is currently in development, Screen Rant reported. The game was announced back in 2017, but there is no word on when it will be released.
“Avatar 2” will be released on Dec. 17, 2021.
