A trailer for The Avengers, was released Tuesday, and has already been re-posted and linked to by a number of Marvel Comic fans anticipating the movie's release date in May 2012.

While fans of Iron Man, Thor, and The Incredible Hulk, among others, still have to wait until May of next year to see what happens when the heroes join forces, the trailer offers two-minute sneak peak full of action-packed footage from the film.

Directed by Joss Whedon, The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr., Clark Gregg, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, and Mark Ruffalo and follows the joined adventures of some of Marvel Comics’ most popular heroes.

Also Actor Tom Hiddleston, who plays the main villain Loki, told The Hollywood Reporter what to expect from his character. At the beginning of The Avengers, he comes to earth to subjugate it and his idea is to rule the human race as their king.

The film, based on the Marvel Comics property “The Avengers,” is slated for release on May 4, 2012.
