Babysitter Killed 2-Month-Old, Returned Corpse To Mother Disguising He Was Asleep
A Wisconsin babysitter allegedly killed a two-month-old boy and returned the baby's corpse to his mother saying he was sleeping. According to reports, Marissa Tietsort, 28 of Wausau caused the infant's death in October 2018 and now faces charges for intentional homicide.
The pregnant babysitter, who is also a mother of five chldren, put the baby in a snowsuit and placed him on the car seat to make him appear to be sleeping. She let his mother pick him up without telling her the child was dead, according to a criminal complaint filed Friday.
The Daily Mail reported that the mother was spotted by authorities at a laundromat trying the revive the child, but he had died hours earlier of blunt force head injuries.
Along with homicide charges in this incident, Tietsort also faces a felony child abuse charge in another incident involving an 11-month-old baby girl, Riley who was in her care in August 2018. She has been ordered Friday to remain in police custody -— where she has been held since October,— pending a $500,000 cash bond, according to the Wausau Daily Herald newspaper.
"Tietsort admitted that she put the [baby's] lifeless body on the floor in the hallway of her home, dressed him in the snowsuit and then placed his body on the car seat with his blankets," according to investigators. When the boy's mother came to pick up her son, Tietsort admitted, she "purposefully put a hat over the his eyes so that the mother would not realize her son was dead."
The mother "thought [the baby] was sleeping, as he would normally be at that time of the day." However, when she took her son out of the car seat, "his legs were rigid and remained bent at the knee," investigators noted.
Officers arrived at the scene to find the boy had “ashen skin tone, his jaw was clenched and his lips were blue.”
In a complaint against Tietsort, investigators claimed that after she returned the lifeless baby to her mother, the woman went swimming in a hotel pool with her boyfriend and son.
