Could "Bachelorette" alums (from left) Mike Johnson, Peter Weber, or Tyler Cameron become the next "The Bachelor" star? ABC

ABC only just wrapped up its latest “The Bachelorette” season but ABC viewers are already clamoring to know who the network will call on to be its next “The Bachelor” star. While an official name has not been announced just yet, there is some speculation about who the 2020 lead could be and when the casting news will be made official.

For weeks, Season 15 “The Bachelorette” stars Tyler Cameron, Peter Weber, and Mike Johnson have been pegged as potential front-runners to take the lead in Season 24. These rumors have only been amplified for the latter two by a recent blog post from Reality Steve.

Following Hannah Brown’s “The Bachelorette” finale, Reality Steve reported that he would consider Peter and Mike to be the current “top candidates” for the spot. Being that Tyler appeared to be open to reconciling with Hannah during the post-finale reunion show after she chose him as her runner-up, he said fans shouldn’t expect to him to “The Bachelor.”

“... unless Tyler and Hannah are completely broken off within the next month, we can take him out of the running this season for the 'Bachelor,'” he wrote.

It is worth noting that if Tyler isn’t picked, he has made it clear that he wants his former co-star Mike to get the job.

Hannah also appears to be on Team Mike. During an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” last month she named Peter and Mike as her top picks. “I thought Peter was really great. Mike’s great. I want them to have happiness. Maybe it will work out better for them then it did for me,” she said.

Similarly, in a recent Us Weekly print interview with Chris Harrison, the host said the network currently has an “embarassment of riches” in regards to potential stars while noting that “there's a lot of clamoring for Mike Johnson.”

While Reality Steve has mentioned Peter, Mike, or Tyler taking the spot in the past, he put a new, potential name into the mix in a recent post: Clay Harbor. Clay, who competed on Becca Kufrin’s season of “The Bachelorette,” is due to appear on Season 6 of “Bachelor in Paradise” this month. The blogger noted that since Clay [spoiler alert!] ends the show single, it could make him a “candidate” to be “The Bachelor” in 2020.

“And it’s not a name I’ve been told has been approached, and I don’t even know if he’d do it, but if we’re saying that Mike is a candidate, how can we not say Clay is a candidate?” he explained. “I mean, if there’s anyone from 'Paradise' they’d even consider, it’d have to be Clay, no? We’ll see him on all 12 episodes, he gets to the end, and he leaves single? Why would Mike be a candidate and Clay not? Clay will actually be fresher on more people’s minds by the end of this thing.”

As for when fans can expect the official “The Bachelor” 2020 announcement, he said it should happen towards the end of the newest “Bachelor In Paradise” season. This follows a timeline similar to past “Bachelor” announcements. Season 23 star Colton Underwood was announced during the first week of September last year, just before the “BIP” Season 5 finale. While ABC revealed Season 22’s Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s casting in early September 2017.
