On Tuesday, reality star Melissa Rycroft opened up to ET Online about the health struggles she faced after returning home from the Dominican Republic. "The Bachelor" alum posted on her Instagram last week that she had become ill after returning from a family vacation.

Her representative told ET that Rycroft, 36, had started to feel sick on the second day of her vacation, but it quickly passed. However, once she came home her symptoms intensified. Continuing, her rep said that the illness lasted for over a week, which prompted the former ABC star to undergo testing for possible parasites or other infections.

"There was one report that was out that I was dead," she revealed to ET's Keltie Knight. "My parents were frantically calling me that morning going, 'We are getting people calling with their condolences.' Like, 'Mom, I'm on the phone with you. I'm in my bed.'"

Rycroft then added, "I was never dying. I felt like it a few times, but I was never dying."

The "Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team" star said that while she was never under the care of a nurse, medication she received did help her in beginning the journey towards wellness. The prescribed course of treatment also included a liquid diet.

According to RadarOnline, the TV personality experienced her health scare just as a ninth American passed away in the Dominican Republic. Fortunately, Rycroft has returned to her normal self, as she shared on her Instagram over the weekend.

"I am happy to say that I am back to normal (well, normal as I can be!) and feeling good!!" she captioned a photo of her and her three children.

You can catch Melissa as a judge on the latest season of "Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team" in August on CMT.
