Nick Viall has hit back at people who body-shamed him over his shirtless selfie, urging them to be careful with their words.
“The Bachelor” alum on Monday posted on Instagram a shirtless selfie. His lean figure had many commenting on his weight and lifestyle in general. Quite a few fans urged Viall, who was the runner-up on Andi Dorfman’s season of “The Bachelorette,” to gain weight.
Hitting back at critics, Viall asked them to“be careful” with their comments on a person’s physical or emotional well-being.
“I don’t want to even admit that the comments made me feel self-conscious, but I assume many of you would think I can’t be bothered. So I’m here to say it did. I hope thats ok,” Viall said.
He went on to add that he doesn’t owe anyone an explanation, but admitted that certain comments can hurt.
“A pic doest tell people’s story. You could be stripping down months of work and process someone has made on their own self improvement. And god forbid you cause them to never want to post shirtless selfie again,” he said.
He ended the post on a lighter note, saying: “Me… I’ll be ok (Im still pretty sure I look fantastic naked).”
Viall has appeared in several seasons of “The Bachelor” franchise. In addition to “The Bachelorette,” he was also featured on “Bachelor in Paradise” in 2016, and then on “The Bachelor” the next year. However, his relationship with the winner of the season, Vanessa Grimaldi, did not last. They split just five months after getting engaged on the show.
Although they both put in a lot of work to make the relationship work, distance seemed to have played spoilsport. According to an ETOnline source, Vanessa, who lives in Montreal in Canada, did not want to leave her family and friends behind and move to Los Angeles. "Moving to Los Angeles or elsewhere long term was never really on the table for her," the source said at the time. "And, unfortunately, it seems as though Nick never had any intention of moving to Montreal."
Since his last stint on "The Bachelor" franchise, Viall has slowly begun to make his presence felt as an actor. The 39-year-old has appeared in HBO’s “Insecure,” ABC’s “Speechless,” Fox’s “Family Guy,” and TV Land’s “Teachers.”
