'Bachelor' Alums Arie Luyendyk, Lauren Burnham Welcome Daughter: What Does Baby Name Mean?
Bachelor Nation was on baby watch on Wednesday as they waited for "Bachelor" alums Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham to welcome their baby girl. And, finally, she's here.
The new dad first updated followers of the news in the story feature of Instagram, writing, "We have a BEAUTIFUL baby girl... Mommy and baby are doing great, we are so incredibly happy...".
In another post on the social media platform, almost 10 hours later, the couple revealed the stats for their newborn. "Alessi Ren Luyendyk. Born May 29, 2019 @ 2:09pm." The caption continued, "6lbs, 13oz. 20 inches long. She is sweet, calm and @ariejr and I could not be more in love with her."
In an age where celebrities are increasingly giving their children unique and uncommon names, Alessi is pretty normal but it has a very strong meaning.
Alessi is "related to the Greek name Alexis" and means "defender", according to the bump. The name Alessi first began as a last name that house of names mentions "can be traced back to the ancient and beautiful region of Venice". The site goes on to state that the surname Alessi comes from Alessio, which is derived from the Latin Alexius and means to defend or to protect.
Since the couple announced their pregnancy in November, they dedicated the Instagram @babyluyendyk for weekly updates. At 34 weeks, one post gave a hint as to what the name would be. During a babymoon to the Bahamas, the caption teased, "...Mom and Dad laughed a lot and I heard my name a few times, I was thinking of giving you a clue within these rhymes. I’d love to stay and rap another verse or two, but it’s Tuesday and I want to get this post live for you. My name is still a surprise and I’d love to keep it that way, if you know it keep your lips sealed and please don’t say. Well this has been fun for little ‘ol me! Until next week, with love, baby ______."
Now we can see how Alessi perfectly fits into this little rhyme.
The couple first got together during Season 22 of "The Bachelor". After first proposing to his initial winner, Becca Kufrin, Arie broke things off to reconcile with Burnham. Shortly after, Burnham moved to Scottsdale to be with Luyendyk and the newlyweds married in early January in Maui, Hawaii. The wedding was officiated by "The Bachelor" host Chris Harrison.
