‘The Bachelor’ Host Chris Harrison Comments On Chris Soules, Whitney Bischoff Split [VIDEO]
“Bachelor” host Chris Harrison is just as bummed as fans to hear about the breakup of Chris Soules and Whitney Bischoff. The ABC reality show couple announced on Thursday that they decided to part ways a little over six months after getting engaged in front of cameras. Now Harrison is opening up about the latest “Bachelor” franchise couple to bite the dust.
“I’m really sorry to hear that Chris and Whitney had ended their engagement, obviously from our last show ‘The Bachelor,’” Harrison said during an interview on Hallmark Channel’s talk-show, “Home & Family.” “He went on to do ‘Dancing With the Stars’ and moved back to Iowa and I thought they had given it a go and were going back together but apparently not.”
Fans who have been following “The Bachelor” couple know that Soules, a 33-year-old farmer, resides in Iowa. Meanwhile, his fertility nurse ex-fiancé, 29, hails from Chicago. Although the pair got engaged during the finale, which was filmed prior to the March 9 air date, they were still not living together by the time the “After the Final Rose” special aired. Bischoff appeared to have supported Soules during his stint on “Dancing With the Stars,” however her absence from his last few performances had viewers suspicious about a breakup.
Harrison added that he’s been in contact with Soules since the news broke of their split. He explained that while the series is a reality show, both Soules and Bischoff are “real people.”
‘They’re just two kids that were hopefully going to get married and they’re not now and that’s sad … they’re still two people going through a breakup, so it’s still rough,” he continued. “I wish them the best.”
Soules and Bischoff released a joint statement to Us Weekly on Thursday regarding their split. The ex-couple revealed that they “mutually and amicably decided to end their engagement” but remain friends.
