?The Bachelor? Spoilers: Will Roberto Martinez Be The Next Bachelor?
Former Bachelorette winner Roberto Martinez is in talks to become the next star of The Bachelor, according to some reports.
Us Weekly reports that the Hispanic hottie is in salary negotiations with ABC to star on the next season of the popular romantic reality television show.
He wants a deal near what Emily asked for, around $750,000, an ABC source told the magazine. But the network will give him pretty much anything.
By Emily, of course, they mean Emily Maynard, the current star of The Bachelorette. Her season is currently airing. She will go to the final four men's hometown on Monday's episode. According to Us Weekly, she received nowhere near $750,000. She reportedly settled for an amount between $100,000 and $150,000.
Martinez, an insurance agent, came to viewers' attention during the sixth season of The Bachelorette. He was the final pick of that season's star, television personality and current host of NBC's 1st Look Ali Fedotowsky. She famously turned down the runner-up early in the final episode -- sparing him the elimination humiliation during a rose ceremony -- in favor of Martinez. She and Martinez got engaged, but called it quits after 18 months together.
We both realized we were unhappy more than we were happy, she told People magazine for a cover story. And we both deserved more.
A source told Us Weekly that Fedotowsky doesn't want her ex to be the next Bachelor.
Ali is dying for him not to do it, the source said. She feels it's a slap in the face. Any chance for them reuniting is over.
A source told People magazine earlier this month that while Martinez is being considered for the job, it's still too soon to tell: Obviously there's a lot about Roberto that is appealing. Still, they also want to see who from Emily Maynard's current season might pop with viewers and are weighing if there are any contenders there. It's just too soon to tell.
Do you think Martinez should be the next Bachelor?
