‘The Bachelorette’ 2014: Chris Soules Talks About Lie Detector Test In Episode 6
Andi Dorfman is taking her quest to find love on “The Bachelorette” very seriously … so seriously, in fact, that she’s requiring some of the contestants to take a lie detector test. Episode 6 will air on Monday, June 23, on ABC, and things will get intense when the 26-year-old Atlanta beauty discovers that some of the men she has been falling for have been lying to her.
What are the dirty secrets that some of the guys have been harboring? “Bachelorette” viewers will have to wait to find out, but contestant Chris Soules opened up about the dramatic upcoming date in a press call.
International Business Times asked Chris, a 32-year-old Farmer from Iowa, if he would take a lie detector test in a relationship that developed off-camera. The contestant admitted that it’s not ideal, and it would depend on the situation.
“It’s definitely an awkward position to be in,” Chris said of being asked to take a lie detector test. “I know a lot of it’s based off your heart rate and certain things. And when I go through a conversation, my heart rate can do different things based on a lot of the different aspects of the conversation. So, I know they’re not 100 percent accurate. And I would be more afraid that it would be inaccurate and end up raising questions that didn’t need to be there.”
That doesn’t mean that Chris would refuse to take one in a relationship. However, the contestant said that he wants his relationships to be based on trust.
“I try to prove that trust to begin with ... so there [aren't] any questions,” he said. “I would feel that I would rather not have to take a lie detector test. I’d rather prove that I’m trustworthy and do that over time the good old-fashioned way.”
But what would Chris ask Andi if he could turn the tables on Andi and ask her some questions of his own?
“I guess I would ask her if she’s [fine] with me,” he told reporters. “Second, could she see herself dating a farmer and being with a farmer for the rest of her life.”
As we previously reported, the eight remaining contestants will pack their bags and head to Italy in episode 6. Nick and Cody will luck out with one-on-one dates, but the six other guys will be forced to take lie detector tests on their group dates.
“One charming man is nervous that his big secret will be uncovered,” the episode 6 synopsis teases. “But the real shock comes when Andi finds that four of her bachelors are not telling the truth.”
The drama in the upcoming episode won’t end there. One bachelor will shock Andi with a “surprise revelation,” and another will confront her “about his dislike for taking the lie detector test.” Tension will mount after the group date rose is handed out, leading one “disgruntled suitor” to verbally attack another man.
Episode 6 of “The Bachelorette” will air on ABC on Monday, June 23, at 8 p.m. EDT. What do you think will happen? Tweet your thoughts to @AmandaTVScoop.
