'Into The Badlands' Season 1 Spoilers: Finale Synopsis Released; What Will Happen In 'Hands Of Five Poisons'? [VIDEO]
It has not even been a full month since the premiere of AMC's "Into the Badlands" -- episode 1 aired on Nov. 15 -- but fans are already facing the martial arts series' first season finale in episode 6. In episode 5, the stage was set for a big showdown in the finale as Sunny (Daniel Wu) took on the Widow (Emily Beecham), but let her get away, and M.K. (Aramis Knight) gave Quinn (Marton Csokas) an accidental showcase of his dark powers. Now both of them have a big target on their backs as they continue to plot their escape from the Badlands. What will their next move be in "Hand of Five Poisons"?
According to the synopsis for the finale, Sunny and M.K. hope to leave Quinn and the Fort behind for good. However, that may be more difficult now that Quinn saw M.K. dispatch of that unlucky Cult. It seems unlikely that the Baron would let such a powerful weapon go free without a fight.
Sunny has a plan, but it is a risky one. A sneak peek video for the episode shows the deadly Clipper paying another visit to the River King (Lance E. Nichols). Last time Sunny went to talk to the River King, he was told that the price for safe passage out of the Badlands would be M.K.'s head! Well, in the teaser video Sunny shows up with some head-shaped mass in a sack and a message for the River King -- "[Here is] your payment ... in full." The chances that Sunny has really cut off M.K.'s head are slim to none. What does he have up his sleeve?

Meanwhile, the synopsis also reveals that all of Quinn's enemies are conspiring to take him down and alter the power dynamic in the Badlands. That could mean trouble for the loyal-to-a-fault Sunny --- Sunny has made enemies with the Widow, turned down an offer to help Jacobee (Edi Gathegi) and Zypher (Ellen Hollman), and might even have lost Quinn's trust after the Baron's M.K. discovery. Sunny could be faced with defending M.K. from all of the Barons, including Quinn. The cast, after all, has been teasing a showdown to top them all in the finale.
"Through episodes 5 and 6 the pace really picks up now, and we storm towards the climax at the end, which, as you can imagine, contains one of the craziest fight scenes possible," Oliver Stark, who plays Ryder, told International Business Times after episode 4. "It gets difficult for Sunny. We've seen Sunny take on a lot of people, but suddenly we are introduced to some people where it is not so easy."
Will Sunny and M.K. find a way out of the Badlands? Fans will have to wait to find out. The Season 1 finale of "Into the Badlands" airs Sunday, Dec. 20, at 10 p.m. EST on AMC.
