BAFTA Awards 2014 Winners: Best And Worst Dressed On The Red Carpet [PHOTOS]
This year’s BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) Awards red carpet was stolen by a noble couple, a royal, an actress who plays a royal, and the newly crowned Queen of the red carpet.
The aforementioned subjects of the night stunned upon arrival for the BAFTA awards, held at London’s Royal Opera House to honor the best in film, television and games. The big winners of the night were Cate Blanchett, who scored an award for Best Actress, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, who won Best Actor for his role in “12 Years A Slave,” which also took the win for Best Film. Best Supporting Actor was won by Barkhad Abdi of "Captain Phillips." Jennifer Lawrence, who was a no-show for the awards ceremony, won the Best Supporting Actress award for “American Hustle.”
The independent British awards are chosen by a committee of 6,500 people, including the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, who has been president of the British Film Academy since 2010. Will attended the awards to present actress Helen Mirren the BAFTA Fellowship Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Cinema, joking he should “probably call her ‘granny.’”
The biggest news on the red carpet was power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who arrived wearing matching suits. Then there was, of course, the Queen of red carpet season, Lupita Nyong’o, who stunned in an emerald-green dress by Dior.
