'Ballers' Episode 7 Spoilers: Blackmailer Changes His Mind; Annabella Reacts To Ricky's Secret ‘Fun House’
Spencer has another meeting with the blackmailer in “Ballers” episode 7. The lawyer, Maximo Gomez, appears to have changed his mind again on the amount he wants for the photographs. Meanwhile, Annabella finds out about Ricky’s "funhouse" and the two have a big argument about it in a club.
[Spoiler Alert!]
HBO has released a preview video of the next episode of the TV series. Just when Joe (Rob Corddry) thought he had clinched a deal with the blackmailer in the previous episode, a meeting with the lawyer doesn’t go as planned. Maximo (Clifton Collins Jr.) doesn’t accept the money that Spencer (Dwayne Johnson) tries to hand over to him and simply says, “slight change of plans.”
The lawyer’s client, Angela Lee (Angelina Assereto), had taken a few pictures of football player Vernon Littlefield (Donovan W. Carter) taking drugs with women previously. Maximo had reminded Spencer and Joe that their company had organized the party and if the pictures were to leak online, they would damage the reputation of both Vernon and Spencer’s company.
Spencer will also have to step in to help Ricky (John David Washington) again in “Ballers” episode 7. Julie Greane (Jazmyn Simon), who had come to Ricky’s “funhouse” in the previous episode, tells his girlfriend Annabella (Anabelle Acosta) about it. Ricky had managed to keep the house a secret from her until now. Annabella will confront Ricky about the house in a night club, and Spencer has to step in to ensure that things don’t get out of hand for his client.
In another video released by HBO, the executive producer and some of the cast spoke about Ricky’s “funhouse” and other aspects of the show. Writer-producer Evan Reilly said the “funhouse” is based on what people have told him about the lives of not just the athletes but people in the entertainment industry.
“Ricky Jarret’s funhouse … it's nothing but debauchery going on in the funhouse,” Simon said in the video. Washington said his character needs to be told to “just calm down.” Reilly explained that Ricky’s behavior is rooted in the fact that his father abandoned him when he was a kid.
Johnson said that the main objective of his character is to bring “a certain quality” in the lives of his clients and take care of them “like a big brother.” Spencer will attempt to bring Charles Greane (Omar Benson Miller) back into football in “Ballers” episode 7.
