Baltimore Ravens' Top 2022 Draft Pick Exits Training Camp Due To Rib Injury

The Baltimore Ravens are gunning for a Super Bowl appearance by the end of the 2022 NFL season, and hopes are high that they can successfully smash expectations after an injury-plagued 2021 run ended their hopes of at least a playoff appearance.

However, their 14th overall pick in Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton is not doing too well to start off their padded practices during training camp.

The Baltimore Sun reported on Wednesday, August 3 that Hamilton was “slow to get to his feet after diving to the ground as he defended a pass to tight end Isaiah Likely in an 11-on-11 period” and that the Ravens’ athletic trainers attended to him quickly.

Hamilton was seen favoring his midsection at this time, but he was able to get one repetition in a seven-on-seven drill.

Although he did not look comfortable at all according to the report, he left practice with about a few minutes remaining.

The Sun also mentioned that new Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald declined to comment on Hamilton’s possible injury.

Serendipitously for Ravens fans, Jamison Hensley of ESPN reported that Hamilton was simply dealing with cramping and noted that “it was an extremely hot practice today.”

The Notre Dame product had a rough start to practice after his poor coverage against wide receiver Bailey Gaither during live stadium practices went viral for all the wrong reasons.

There certainly is a world of difference between being a college athlete and playing in professional sports as the level of competition and practices have a big difference.

Hamilton is seeing first-hand what it takes to play in the NFL and is quickly learning that he will have to adapt to the game quicker.

Luckily for him, he has the support of veteran cornerback Marlon Humphrey as the pair talked about what lies ahead for Hamilton’s young career and how he can rise to the occasion when needed during the latter’s appearance on the former’s “Studio 44” podcast.

Fans are expectedly high of the Ravens this season and adding Hamilton to their formidable defensive backs group is only going to bring the Ravens to where they want to be in mid-January.
