With COVID-19 turning into a full-blown global epidemic, the gaming circuit is taking no chances in exposing players, staff and the rest of its community to the deadly virus. To protect their assets, several high-tier competitions and tournaments have been cancelled until further notice.

Bandai Namco Entertainment, Inc. became the latest to cancel an event due to the rising cases of COVID-19. In their official website, the gaming giant has decided to postpone its Tokyo “Tekken” Masters Tournament to a later date this year.

While the Tokyo-based gaming developer and publisher didn't specify any date, their decision came as a difficult stand. Still, it came as a precautionary measure to ensure the health and safety of its competitors, event staff and tournament audience.

“Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. will take every possible consideration into account prior to rescheduling the Tokyo Tekken Masters Tournament. Our goal and focus is to provide safe and healthy conditions for all of our tournaments to take place,” it said in a statement.

This year's Master Tournament was scheduled to take place in Tokyo on April 4-5 with a prize pool of over $12,000.00

Due to its cancellation, the “Tekken” World Tour will shift to its Norcal Regionals on April 10 in California.
