Banking reform bill expected to go to Senate floor
Senate Republicans are expected to clear the way for consideration of a stalled Democratic bill to tighten regulation of Wall Street, a Republican official said on Wednesday.
The official said Senate Republicans are to meet at 4:30 p.m. EDT to discuss their next move. The official said they would also get a briefing on what their leadership called assurances by Democratic Senator Christopher Dodd to end taxpayer bailouts and the dangerous notion that certain financial institutions are too big to fail.
