Barack Obama Releases Family Holiday Photo With Wife Michelle Obama, Kids

Barack Obama recently shared an adorable Christmas photo with his entire family.

On his Twitter account, the former president uploaded a snap of himself with his wife, Michelle Obama, and two daughters, Malia and Sasha Obama, standing behind five cute elves.

In his caption, Obama greeted everyone Merry Christmas, and wished them “joy and peace in this holiday season.” According to People, the Obama family’s photo captured the hearts of thousands of people that’s why it received 86,000 likes within minutes.

As of late, the photo has already garnered over one million likes and over 200,000 retweets. Several Obama followers also wished their entire family a wonderful and blessed Christmas.

On Christmas Day, President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania Trump, also greeted everyone “Merry Christmas.” In the video uploaded to his Twitter account, the president said, “In the season of joy, we spend time with our families. We renew the bonds of love and goodwill between our citizens. And most importantly, we celebrate the miracle of Christmas,” he said.

Melania also spoke in the short Christmas greeting and said, “At this time of year, we see the best of America and the soul of the American people.” The video has only received over 160,000 likes and 45,000 retweets.

On Dec. 24, Trump also uploaded a controversial tweet where he said that Americans could say “Merry Christmas” again. According to TIME, this was in reference to the “war of Christmas” and the ongoing cultural debate over the proper end-of-year greeting.

There have been some accusations that the Obamas have not said “Merry Christmas” in recent years. Trump and his people believe that the Obamas only told Americans “happy holidays.” However, Slate magazine compiled a series of videos of Obama saying “Merry Christmas” during his greetings.

Last Friday, Obama also uttered the phrase during his press conference. He said, “Merry Christmas, everybody.”
