FC Barcelona skipper Lionel Messi reportedly has demanded the resignation of club president, Josep Maria Bartomeu. If that doesn’t happen, Messi has threatened to move to another club as his current contract clause allows him to leave Barca as a free agent this summer.

Initially, there were several issues between the Barcelona players but now the problems have shifted between the players and the board. Among the senior players, Messi and star veteran defender, Gerard Pique, have been the vocal ones in regards to the ongoing issues and against the direction the club is heading toward.

Recently, in the wake of the "Barcagate", as many as six board members of Barcelona resigned from their respective posts after they decided to jointly put out a statement, which was against Barca’s president, Bartomeu, who allegedly used social media firms to tarnish the image of Barca's own players. Earlier, Messi had slammed the board on social media for indirectly suggesting to the press that the players were not ready to take 70% pay cut in the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

According to a news report from Don Balon claims, Messi has lost his patience and has asked the president to quit, on behalf of all the players.

The skipper has also demanded a squad that can actually win trophies next season. Barca’s last Champions League title win came five years back and the Argentine has brutally declared that the Catalans cannot win the European premier trophy with the current team.

The downfall of the club has certainly begun with the board falling apart and the current pandemic crisis is just making things worse for one of the biggest clubs in soccer.

Earlier several reports linked Messi to a move to Inter Milan. However, Messi took to social media to deny the rumors. “What they said about Newell’s Old Boys a few weeks ago is also false, thank God no one believed them,” Messi wrote in an Instagram story.
