La Liga giants Barcelona finds competition from EFL championship club in pursuit of Premier League star.

There has been an overwhelming amount of massive transfer moves talks this summer. Barcelona have been one of the most mentioned clubs in transfer rumors and multiple reports claimed that the Catalan club is putting half of their roster on sale. Ever since the lockdown, Barca has been keen on finding reinforcements to their team. Latest reports state that the Barcelona are planning a “shock move” to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth.

Along with Lionel Messi, Foyth was one of the most promising stars Argentina has ever produced. The 22-year-old defender burst onto the Premier League scene after joining Tottenham in 2017 under Mauricio Pochettino's request. However, Foyth has had his troubles living up the hype and struggled to get going with the Spurs. He is now reportedly has no future under Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho, who is said to be after a different type of central defender this summer. Mourinho has also made it clear that Foyth is one of the players who could possibly leave the club.

With Foyth now up for sale, Leeds United have emerged as surprise contenders in signing the defender. According to Football Insider, Leeds are currently keen on bringing in experienced Premier League stars. The English club have regained interest on Foyth, a player they have already tried to sign in the past. Leeds have previously moved for Foyth, but their efforts to take the youngster to Elland Road have been rebuffed.

This time around, Leeds are hoping to finally sign the Tottenham defender this summer as Foyth agent’s recently admitted that his client will hold talks with Spurs about finding a new club. However, things would not be as easy as it sounds should Barcelona decide to push hard for Foyth as well.

Foyth could really be a good fit in Barcelona as Mundo Deportivo (via WhoScored.com) reported that the club’s defender Nelson Semedo, who was mentioned in the Lautaro Martinez possible deal, is now opting to leave for Manchester City this summer.

Barcelona are said to be desperately looking to offload some of their players this summer in a bid to cash-in to fund their spending spree and Semedo has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City in recent weeks.

Semedo has already spent three years with Barcelona since joining from Benfica. However, the Portugal international has struggled to make a remarkable impact at the club.
