  • Arturo Vidal could be a "perfect fit" at Chelsea, says journalist
  • Vidal is one several other footballers reportedly placed in the transfer list by Barcelona
  • Quique Setien said he is not sure if Vidal wants to stay in Barca

Barcelona is expected to sell Arturo Vidal from the transfer market as the Catalans brace for a massive revamp. Since being placed on the transfer list, the Chilean midfielder has gained a fair amount of interest of other clubs, including Chelsea, which is viewed as an ideal destination for him.

Fox Sports journalist Christian Martin described Chelsea as a “perfect fit” for Vidal, as per a report from Ben Pringle of Express, suggesting that the English giants could acquire the 33-year-old in place of Jorginho, who is also expected to leave the Stamford Bridge.

“I’d love to see Arturo Vidal at Chelsea. I don’t have that information (but) he’s good, I like him”, Martin said. “At Chelsea, Arturo it would be a perfect fit, hopefully it will happen, his football would fit in well, we’ll talk to (Vidal's agent) Fernando Felicevich later, it would be good.”

“Arturo seems to me a sensational player. I’m not saying it because he is Chilean, I think he would fit in very well anywhere.

"Arturo knows more about Italy, I don’t know if his past in Juventus stops him from going to Inter, but according to what I talked to him, he would always be attracted to coming to the Premier League.”

Vidal’s exit is further speculated after Quique Setien said that he himself is uncertain if the Chile international still wants to stay at Camp Nou.

“He is giving us a lot, he generates enthusiasm and commitment. He is always ready to work and to help out and it is commendable. It is good to have such players in a football team,” Setien of Vidal during a previous press conference, via Sempreinter.

“Of course, there are many possibilities that he will stay here. He has a contract with us but I don’t know if he wants to continue, I’m counting on him and the players who have a contract.”

Vidal signed with the Blaugrana in 2018 via a transfer from Bayern Munich for a three-year deal reportedly worth around $22 million plus variables. Besides him, Barca is also planning to sell Philippe Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele, Junior Firpo, Samuel Umtiti and Ivan Rakitic as the Catalans look forward to pursue Lautaro Martinez and Neymar in the market.
