The 21-year-old is currently playing on loan for the La Liga club Real Betis. There’s a lot of potential for Emerson with the way he moves on the pitch. The combination of his great anticipation of the ball and how he reads the defense makes him an excellent asset for any team. In 37 appearances for Real Betis, he has also managed to score on four separate occasions and tally five assists.

The Brazilian has been one of the more reliable defenders on Real Betis and has garnered a lot of attention from different clubs. Per Everything Barca, Emerson appears to be on the move for financial reasons. The initial plan was reported for Emerson to develop for one more season at Real Betis. But with the recent transfer of Achraf Hakimi to Inter Milan, an opportunity to sell Emerson to Borussia Dortmund opened up.

Letting Emerson jump to another team may cause concern in the long run as Barcelona is giving away their talent but it will help appease their current situation. Given the current global crisis and the reported financial vulnerability of Barcelona, the club would benefit from any opportunity to receive the monetary boost in shipping the Brazilian talent.

Ever since the games resumed, Real Madrid was able to overtake the Camp Nou-squad in the La Liga standings and dominate their opponents. This puts Zinedine Zidane’s team ahead in first place with 77 points in the rankings. It remains as a close fight as Barca trails with 73 points with a record of 22 wins, seven draws and five losses.
