Barcelona Rumors: Antoine Griezmann Could Replace Cristiano Ronaldo At Juventus

One of Barcelona’s most expensive players could end up replacing Cristiano Ronaldo in the Italian top-flight.

Shortly after Barcelona president Joan Laporta’s confirmation that the club will undergo major revamp, an array of Barca stars got linked to a move away from Camp Nou.

Among them is one of the club’s record signings Antoine Griezmann.

With Laporta eager to revamp the current Barcelona squad, Griezmann could find himself joining reigning Serie A champions Juventus, according to a report obtained by Football Italia.

What’s even more interesting, the report further noted that there is a possibility that the French attacker could become Juve’s alternative should the club’s talisman Ronaldo decides to leave this summer.

However, the report also suggests that the staggering price tags of both European superstars could “complicate” the said potential deal.

It can be recalled that Griezmann is still Barcelona’s third most expensive signing of all time, having joined the Catalans via a whopping €120 million ($146 million) in 2019.

Ronaldo, on the other hand, is easily still one of the most valuable players in the sport.

Aside from the link-up with Juventus, Griezmann is also wanted by his former club Atletico Madrid.

It has become a hot topic in La Liga that the World Cup winner is being mooted for a swap deal involving Atletico’s Joao Felix.

Addressing the subject, Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo admitted that he is “desperate” to get Griezmann back.

"Any team would be desperate to have Griezmann ," Cerezo said on El Larguero. "He's a magnificent player. I'd love to bring him back, but I don't believe Barcelona want to sell."

"He's an elite player, he had wonderful years here and became a hero at Atletico ," he added.

As for the swap deal, Cerezo emphasized that Felix is not leaving Atleti anytime soon.

According to Cerezo, Atletico is banking on Felix regardless of what people think of his performances in recent times.

"There's no way [Joao Felix] leaves," the club president pointed out . "He has to adapt, but when he takes off he'll be one of the most important players on the planet."

"Players aren't machines; they have good days and bad, and he'll have many glorious afternoons at this club."

Griezmann has managed to bounce back from his seemingly underwhelming maiden season with Barcelona.

To date, the 2016 La Liga Best Player has already registered 14 goals and seven assists in 42 games across all competitions.
