  • Barcelona's Francisco Trincao could leave Camp Nou in the summer, a report suggests
  • Two Premier League clubs are linked to Trincao

One of Barcelona’s most notable debutants is being linked to transfer rumors.

Barcelona has managed to keep its La Liga title hopes alive with the help of the club’s youngsters. First-team debutants such as Ilaix Moriba and Pedri have become instrumental to Lionel Messi this season. However, Francisco Trincao has seemingly failed to make his mark on the team.

Amid an underwhelming maiden year at Barca, Trincao is now expected to depart Camp Nou at the end of the season. As early as now, the Catalans are already open to listening to enticing offers, having been aware that “several clubs are interested” in signing the 21-year-old, Spanish publication Sport reported. International Business Times could not independently verify this information.

The report also implied that Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has deemed Trincao as irrelevant, having formed an effective attacking arsenal in recent games with Ousmane Dembele, Antoine Griezmann and Martin Braithwaite.

Among the clubs tagged as early suitors of Trincao is English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to Birmingham Live.

The report further said that Barcelona has already ”offered” Trincao to the Wolves, but Leicester City is also said to be keen on signing the striker.

Prior to the rumors, Koeman had high hopes for Trincao. The Dutchman acknowledged that the youngster is determined to secure a spot in his squad and has been doing the right thing.

"Francisco [Trincao] came from Braga, he’s young, just 21, and to make a step to a club like Barca is a huge step for any player from outside,” Koeman said earlier this year. “We don’t have to rush these things.”

"He’s working hard, trying to get minutes, I think he’s on the right path,” he continued. “He hasn’t played a lot recently but there’s a lot of competition. He’s a player we are counting on for the future of this club.”

Trincao joined Barcelona last year from Braga via a €31 million ($37.5 million) transfer. The Portuguese was highly-regarded ahead of his Barca debut, having been likened to world-class players Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo due to his ability to play as a striker and an attacking midfielder.

To date, Trincao already has three goals to his name in 25 La Liga appearances. However, he has not started for Barcelona since Feb. 24 and spent the entire Copa del Rey final defeat to Athletic Bilbao on Saturday on the bench. He has also gone 10 consecutive games without being handed a start in all competitions.
