David Portnoy, the president of digital media company Barstool Sports, took to Twitter on Thursday to respond to an investigation by Business Insider that detailed allegations by three women of “violent and humiliating” sexual encounters.

Two of the women allege that Portnoy, 44, choked them and filmed the encounters without their consent. One woman even texted a friend two days after having sex with Portnoy saying, “it was so rough I felt like I was being raped.” The woman then told a friend, “I kept trying to get away, and he was like ‘Stop running away from me. Stop running away from me.’”

A Barstool Sports representative told Variety in a statement that “as a matter of policy, we do not comment on the private lives of our employees, but we take this matter seriously and are monitoring it closely.”

In video tweets, Portnoy called the Business Insider report a “hit piece.”

“I’m just gonna tell the truth and shoot from the hip,” said Portnoy, while claiming he was ignoring advice from lawyers.

In two videos that totaled about 12 minutes, Portnoy said he was never contacted by police and has not been charged with a crime.

Portnoy claims that the Business Insider reporter had a "narrative." He said he knew of the investigation months in advance when women reached out to him about a reporter asking questions about whether they had sexual experiences with Portnoy.

“There’s not an ounce of credibility to [the investigation],” he said.

He acknowledged that he had a brief relationship with the two women. He also posted text messages.

“I’ve never done anything weird with a girl, never anything remotely non-consensual,” he said.

On Twitter, Ali Weiss, one of the women featured in the story, wrote “mildly terrified but deeply relieved to have spoken for the first time about my Barstool experience, 5 years later. This is just the beginning - LFG. Thank you @thisisinsider @mjnblack.”
