‘The Bastard Executioner’ Season 1 Spoilers: Episode 3 Synopsis Released; What Will Happen In ‘Effigy/Ddelw’?
“The Bastard Executioner” will return with more drama and gore when Kurt Sutter’s hit FX series airs episode 3 on Tuesday, Sept. 22. The upcoming installment, titled “Effigy / Ddelw,” will focus on Wilkin (Lee Jones) and his new career as Castle Ventris’ executioner.
In the pilot episode, Wilkin imitated the role of a punisher so that he could infiltrate the court of his enemies who were responsible for the attack on his farm and the slaughtering of his family. However, Ventris’ (Brian F. O’Byrne) advisor Milus (Stephen Moyer), being the conniving man he is, knew from the moment he laid eyes on the “executioner” that he was Wilkin Brattle – the man he and the dead Baron left to die during a previous battle against the Scots.
“Our buried truths bind us,” Milus said to Wilkin, confirming that he was aware of Wilkin’s true identity. The next thing viewers knew Milus was demanding that Wilkin reside in the city as the castle’s permanent executioner, saying, “I need a man with the heart of a dragon.”
Fans will get to witness Wilkin’s brutal side once again when he’s forced to “carry out his duties as the new executioner when an unlikely suspect is charged with treason,” the synopsis for episode 3 reveals.
In addition to confronting his demons, Wilkin will also come face-to-face with the angels of his dreams in the upcoming installment of “TBX.” In the pilot, Wilkin witnessed the ghost of his dead wife Petra (Elen Rhys) emerge in the crowd just as he was preparing for an execution. The protagonist will confront that same apparition again in episode 3.
“Do you show yourself to help me or to taunt me?” he asks the spirit who responds that it’s his choice to decide.
“The Bastard Executioner” will air Season 1, episode 3 on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 10 p.m. EDT on FX.
