‘Bates Motel’ Season 5, Episode 8 Synopsis Released; What Will Happen In ‘The Body’?
Norman (Freddie Highmore) and Mother (Vera Farmiga) find themselves detained in the sheriff’s station in Season 5, episode 8 of “Bates Motel” after the young Bates confessed to the murder of Sam Loomis (Austin Nichols) at the end of last episode.
According to the synopsis for next week’s installment, titled “The Body,” Mother uses tough love to protect Norman as Sheriff Greene (Brooke Smith) begins the investigation of Sam’s murder. Although Norman admitted to killing Madeleine’s (Isabelle McNally) husband, it seems that Norman won’t be staying long behind bars.
The synopsis states that Dylan (Max Thieriot) manages to get his brother to help, so Norma’s (Farmiga) firstborn may have probably convinced the authorities that Norman is psychologically unstable and should be admitted to a mental facility rather than locked up in jail.

“He’s not a bad a person. He’s not a criminal. He’s [just] crazy,” Dylan tells someone in the preview clip for next week’s episode, which also gives fans a glimpse of Madeleine’s reaction to Norman’s confession.
“What did you do?” a shocked Madeleine seemingly asks Norman in the video.
At the end of the clip, Romero (Nestor Carbonell) finally arrives at Bates Motel. Unfortunately for White Pine Bay’s former sheriff, his target, Norman, may not be around yet because the establishment’s iconic neon light signage is noticeably off.
“Bates Motel” executive producer Carlton Cuse told TV Insider last month that Romero is determined to make Norman pay for killing his wife Norma. “That’s what’s driving that character,” Cuse said of Romero’s objective this season. “He’s fully committed to killing Norman Bates or die trying. We’re going to find out which way that goes by the end of the season. He’s hell-bent on revenge and that’s completely driving him.”
“Bates Motel” Season 5, episode 8 airs on Monday, April 10 at 10 p.m. EST on A&E. Watch the preview clip below:
