Electronic Arts (EA) has updated the Xbox file size and Steam version of "Battlefield 2042" recently while two industry insiders have shared the "start date" of the game's Open Beta.

Open Beta Start Date

Reliable industry insider Tom Henderson revealed in a tweet Thursday that "Battlefield 2042" Open Beta starts on Sept. 22. "The #BATTLEFIELD2042 Beta being on Sept 22nd isn't speculation or a guess. Like I said with the #Vanguard leaks... Take it with a pinch of FACT. I'm as confident as I was when I saw the internal trailer with my own eyes," the insider told fans.

GamesBeat journalist Jeff Grubb backed Henderson's claim on the release date of the game's Open Beta. The journalist said during the Giant Bomb stream that he had corroborated the date Henderson provided with his own sources.

Italian retailer Mediaworld claimed Wednesday that "Battlefield 2042" Open Beta will start Monday, Sept. 6, and will run until Saturday, Sept. 11. The retailer has since removed the promotional image but gamers can still view its archived version.

Fans are confused and wonder when exactly they can get their hands on the game's Open Beta. However, since the information is not official, it is wise to wait for the official announcement from EA and DICE of the start date of the game's Open Beta.

Game Updates

EA may have updated the Xbox file size of "Battlefield 2042" based on a screenshot shared on Reddit by a user who goes by the name Timidestone699pro. Originally, the game's file size on the Microsoft gaming system is 60 GB but it appears that it is now 90 GB.

EA appears to have updated the game's Steam version as well as reported by a Reddit user who goes by the name Oski_Polski. These updates could mean nothing at all but it could also suggest that the Open Beta is going to begin very soon.

EA previously said the game's Open Beta will launch in September but it did not reveal the specific date. "Battlefield 2042" is set to release on Oct. 22, 2021. The game is scheduled to launch on various gaming platforms. This includes PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC.
