“Battlefield 5” will get another big update in the summer of 2020, and it will be the last.
In a post on their website, DICE senior producer Ryan McArthur announced that they will release one more standalone update in the summer – probably in June -- following the wrap-up of their latest update, Into The Jungle. The said current chapter is set to end on April 29.
“We are targeting June for this update. We’re still tackling the challenges from working from home and will let you know how things progress for us over the next month,” McArthur wrote.
While he didn’t mention what the next big update for the popular first-person shooter will focus on, McArthur did note that it will bring “new content, weapons, and game tweaks.”
The DICE senior producer also highlighted that players will be able to receive Battlefield Currency or Company Coin as weekly rewards in the final chapter. These coins or currency could then be used to unlock gears that players have previously missed.
There are also events and activities planned for the update, including what they call Friday Night Battlefield where they hope to gather their community in a friendly game of “Battlefield 5.”A Throwback Thursday event is also in the works, during which they will be bringing all players together across all “Battlefield” titles.
Further in the announcement, McArthur emphasized DICE’s efforts to prevent cheating, vowing that they will continue their work to stop hackers and cheaters from exploiting the game.
“Our work against cheating in Battlefield V will continue, too. The members of our anti-cheat team are working daily towards making the battlefield experience as free of foul play as possible. Discussing technical detail into our methods may unfortunately make cheating worse, but we want you to know that we’re constantly fighting the battle,” McArthur explained.
“Battlefield 5” is one of the more popular shooter games in the market, getting high praise for its brilliant gameplay. Released in 2018, it has been nominated for several awards, including Best PC Game (Game Critics Awards), Shooter of the Year (Australian Games Awards) and Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design (Annual DICE Awards).
The game won as Best Online Multiplayer in the Game Critics Awards in 2018.
“Battlefield 5” is playable on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
