Is ‘Batwoman’ New Tonight? Coronavirus Affects The CW Schedule
The bat signal will not be lit tonight. The CW will not air a new episode of “Batwoman” tonight.
Coronavirus has affected much of the entertainment world, and that means that TV schedules are shifting. “Batwoman” Season 1 was filming episode 19 when production was shut down, and episode 16 aired last week. Episodes 17 and 18 likely weren’t finished with post-production.
It isn’t clear if “Batwoman” will return to filming. It’s possible the season will just be shortened. The same question lingers for fellow Arrowverse shows “The Flash” and “Supergirl,” both of which are also not airing this week.
The “Batwoman” cast is encouraging social distancing. Ruby Rose, who plays the titular superhero, shared a sassy Batman cartoon that shows Bruce Wayne ignoring the bat signal to stay inside.
Alice actress Rachel Skarsten is hoping to keep fans entertained and engaged by doing an Instagram Live on Sunday. She asked fans for topics they’d like to hear about, and she’s going to be talking to her friends that she considers qualified experts daily for a week.
“Since most of us are home by our phones, I thought I’d take the lead of so many others and try to create spaces for community and learning!” she wrote last week. “I was thinking about doing some Instagram lives with different friends - who know a lot more than me - on topics like art, health, the environment etc...what do you think?”
Skarsten got an enthusiastic fan response. She’ll speak with holistic nutritionist Tonya Papanikolov, founder of Rainbo, a medicinal mushroom product line, at 2 p.m. EST on Instagram Live.
Her character isn’t quite as helpful. Skarsten told International Business Times earlier this month that Alice is going to take an even darker turn after her father and sister’s latest deception: locking her up in Arkham Asylum.
“I do think that we will start to see a much darker side of Alice before we get to any redemption, which is also really interesting to get to play as an actor,” Skarsten explained. “So yes, ultimately, I do think that she can be redeemed. Whether she will at any point soon remains to be seen.”
In the meantime, fans can still catch a rerun. Episode 9, which served as the fall finale, titled "A Mad Tea-Party," will air at 8 p.m. EDT. "Crisis on Infinite Earths" will re-air starting April 6.
“Batwoman” Season 1 does not have a return date yet.
