On a perfect Sunday morning in San Francisco, thousands of runners flooded the streets for the 100th Zazzle Bay to Breakers, the City's largest annual street party. Celebrating its centennial running, the event is known most for its revelers, who often dress in costumes or don't dress at all, rather than the actual competition.

This year's winner on the men's side was Ridouane Harroufi, age 29 from Morrocco, and on the women's side was Lineth Chepkurui, age 23 from Kenya. The top American finisher for the men's field was Jason Hartmann of Boulder, Colorado and for the women's field was local favorite Magdalena Lew-Boulet of Oakland, California

The 12K (7.46 mile) race started from the Embarcadero at 7 AM, and stretched through the length of Golden Gate Park before concluding along the Great Highway. Although the top finishers completed the course in less than 45 minutes, the race continued for 4 more hours for other participants, many who took their time walking the course and enjoying the event.

Organizers for the race instituted a zero-tolerance alcohol policy and police were out in full force along the course. The event intentionally had an early morning start in order to deter excessive drinking.

Next year's edition race has already been scheduled for May 20, 2012.
