Be Careful When Handling This Device As You Can Catch Coronavirus From It
KEY POINTS
- Coronavirus has killed more than 2,000 people all around the world within a short span of time
- Many have become vigilant on how they can protect themselves from the deadly virus
- You also need to be careful when using one device as it can spread the virus
However, even though how much you try to be careful, there are certain situations or things, which you may not be aware of, but could actually infect you with the virus. That’s right, a recent study on the deadly coronavirus showed that you could contract it from a device that you commonly use.
To date, there have already been more than 2,127 deaths recorded brought about the deadly virus. While COVID-19 is a new disease that shook the entire world for the past months, it has spread so rapidly, causing panic in several countries.
Cough Droplets
According to a report in Express, researchers have established how the virus has spread, and it is through water droplets. When you cough, you emit water droplets, which could carry the virus. These water droplets could settle on any surface. When you touch these contaminated surfaces, you run the risk of contracting the virus.
Among the dangerous surfaces where the virus-harboring water droplets could reside are mobile phone screens. It cannot be denied that mobile phones have become an extension of one’s physique such that they could no longer leave home without them. Because of the rampant use of mobile phones, the screens are among the first set of surfaces that could catch water droplets from a person’s cough.
What Experts Say
According to experts, you could catch the deadly COVID-19 from your mobile phone. As per Fleet Street Clinic’s Dr. Richard Dawood, you may be able to catch the virus from your phone if someone infected handled it.
Another health expert, Professor Stephen Turner from Monash University, said that if you lend your phone to someone, and he has the virus, and they sneezed on coughed on your phone, then you can be infected right after you got it back from them and used it.
What you can do, as per Dr. Dawood’s advice, is to clean your phone using alcohol or any other detergent. This will help in getting rid of the germs. Also, if you cannot trust the health integrity of other people, better keep your phone to yourself and avoid lending it out to others.
Those who need to be extra careful are the elderly, pregnant women, and children. Flu, like the coronavirus, can be dangerous for their health. It was even found by some studies that the average smartphone can hold 10x as many germs as the average toilet seat. Now that’s a staggering number that you must remember. So for as long as you can, try to keep your mobile screens or smartphones clean. You’ll never know if somebody sneezed or coughed, and the droplets reached your phone while you were looking away.
