Fans of the “Beast Quest” children’s books are in for some good news, as a new free-to-play mobile role-playing game based in the book’s universe was recently released for iOS and Android devices. The mobile game, also called “Beast Quest,” is an open-world action role-playing game that is set to feature locations, characters and beasts that fans of the books will recognize.

The developer of the “Beast Quest” mobile game is Miniclip, which has released several popular mobile games prior to “Beast Quest,” including the incredibly popular “Gravity Guy” games. The company has also released “Fragger,” which has been the No. 1 most downloaded paid app in a lot of countries, the game’s iTunes description says.

Gameplay-wise, “Beast Quest” plays similarly to the critically acclaimed “Infinity Blade,” with players having to rely on dodges and swipe attacks to take down various beasts. App Advice has labeled the game a more child-friendly version of “Infinity Blade,” due to the roots of the series, as well as the more colorful graphics presented in the game.

A key difference between “Infinity Blade” and “Beast Quest,” is the open-world structure the game brings, as stated by Pocket Gamer. While “Infinity Blade” did allow players to explore some of the areas, movement was limited and the game was more focused on providing battles for the player to engage in. “Beast Quest” allows players to fully explore the areas they’re in, before taking on the various beasts in the game.

As for why players are tasked with attacking these beasts, it’s because an evil wizard has taken over their minds and turned them into murderous brutes. It’s up to the player to defeat the beasts and save them, while also unlocking new areas, weapons and items to help them on their long journey.

“Beast Quest” is available now on iOS and Android devices. The game features plenty of challenges for fans of the book series and action role-playing games in general. The game also has iCloud support, so fans with multiple iOS devices van transfer their save data to other Apple platforms.
