Bedazzled Beyoncé: Singer Pays Tribute To Michael Jackson, Wears 100-Carat Diamonds At Super Bowl Halftime Show
Beyoncé kicked up a storm at Super Bowl halftime show along with Coldplay and Bruno Mars Sunday. The 34-year-old singer paid tribute to Michael Jackson in her all-black outfit. Bey worked with Dsquared2 for her MJ-inspired outfit.
The singer belted her new single “Formation” that she dropped over the weekend. Queen Bey was dressed in a black leotard paired with a custom made matching leather jacket that was draped with gold bullets. MJ wore a black leather jacket with gold bands over the chest when he performed at the Super Bowl XXVII in 1993.
Queen Bey’s custom leather jacket was created by Dsquared2 designers Dean and Dan Caten. “We love Beyoncé and wanted to create something where she resembles a warrior leading her female posse who fall into formation and take Super Bowl 50 at half-time!” said the designers, talking about her outfit. The mother-of-one finished her look in black fishnet tights and embellished ankle boots from Christian Louboutin.
She bedazzled her warrior look with 100 carats of Lorraine Schwartz diamonds. The diamonds consisted of 18 carat gold football-shaped nude diamond earrings, a 30 carat cushion shape bezel ring, a 26 carat nude pear shape diamond ring and two nude diamond rings. Her long blonde hair was left loose over her shoulders in loose curls and parted down the middle.
Beyoncé opted for brown glossy lipstick, black mascara and eyeliner for her beauty look. Meanwhile, her 38 dancers wore Black Panther inspired leather outfits by Zana Bayne. They finished their look with Doc Marten boots and black berets.
She and her dancers paid tribute to the Black Panthers, Malcolm X and Black Lives Matter movement during the Super Bowl Halftime show. Bey’s dancers made an X formation during the performance, one of the star’s most radical political statement in her 20-year career.
