Bee Gees Star Robin Gibb Diagnosed With Liver Cancer: Report

Bee Gees star Robin Gibb, 61, is said to be fighting liver cancer after being diagnosed with the disease several months ago, British media are reporting.

Robin Gibb had to be rushed to a British hospital on Tuesday after a 911 call was made from his mansion home in Oxfordshire, central England, the Daily Mail and Sunday Mirror reported. He was reportedly discharged after five hours and was later joined by big brother Barry and their mother.

Robin Gibb had a previous emergency admission on Oct. 13, reportedly with intense stomach pain that was blamed on inflammation of the colon.

Though recent pictures have shown Gibb looking a little frail, back in October he refuted claims that his health is worsening by saying: I'm feeling great, absolutely great.

Robin Gibb also had emergency gastro-intestinal surgery in August 2010. In April of this year, chronic pain forced him to postpone a solo tour planned for South America after his medical team advised him not to travel, according to Fox News.

Robin Gibb has been dealing with some tragic events: His younger brother Andy Gibb, a former teen idol, died in 1988 at the age age 30 after fighting cocaine addiction. Then, in 2003, Robin Gibb's twin brother, Maurice, died at the age of 53 from a heart attack during surgery for a twisted intestine.

Robin Gibb has told Britain's Sky Arts channels that Maurice Gibb's death is something I haven't accepted.

I just imagine he is out there somewhere, and I will bump into him one day, Robin Gibb added.

Following the death, the Bee Gees temporarily retired after 45 years of entertaining and selling more than 200 million records. The remaining members of the group reunited in 2009 for an appearance on Dancing With the Stars and a performance on American Idol last year.

The family hasn't made an official statement on Sunday's report.
