Bellator CEO Shockingly Details Discussions With Jake, Logan Paul
KEY POINTS
- Bellator is open to signing Jake and Logan Paul
- Scott Coker has given the Paul brothers an idea on how to become good MMA fighters
- The YouTube stars have never competed in MMA
Jake and Logan Paul may have just found a potential platform should they consider pursuing mixed martial arts (MMA).
Some fans may have already been convinced of what the Paul brothers can do inside the ring, having competed in pro boxing.
Given their massive fanbase, Jake and Logan also got their names crossing the territory of MMA despite zero experience in the sport.
Fortunately for the pair, mainstream MMA promotion Bellator has now showed interest in bringing them in.
In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Coker said that “there’s an ongoing dialogue” between him and the Paul brothers over a potential Bellator deal.
“We’ve had convos with (Logan Paul) and Jake (Paul) about, ‘What does MMA mean to you guys,’ and ‘What do you guys wanna do?’” Coker divulged. “There’s ongoing dialogue, but if they wanna really get down and get serious, we’ll bring them in. Sure, why not.”
While the interest from his part is already certain, Coker yearns to know if the YouTube stars are all-in on pursuing MMA first before making a move.
“Guys, if you really wanna do mixed martial arts, you wanna fight some of our top guys, please give me a call, have your managers call us, and let’s get it on,” he pointed out.
The Bellator boss went on to confess that he knew from the get-go that Jake and Logan are not the types of fighters to sleep on.
However, Coker reckoned that they have to be honed properly first and thus far, renowned MMA coach Javier Mendez is one of the people in the sport who can help them.
“When they started boxing two years ago, I told people don’t underestimate these guys, because they’re gonna get better and better and better,” Coker said of Jake and Logan. “It’s just a matter of them training and practicing.
“If they get into a gym like [AKA] with Javier Mendez, talk to me in a year, man,” he added. “I’m impressed with how much they’ve grown over the last two years, and if they have their mind made up, I think they can come get into it.”
Jake has already expressed his desire to join the UFC as part of his endeavor to grant fighters a pay bump and healthcare.
However, UFC president Dana White is not thrilled with the idea and shut all the hype down.
Logan, on the other hand, appears to be enjoying his time with WWE and has already made his in-ring debut at WrestleMania 38 earlier this month.
