Belmont 2016: Latest Odds For Saturday’s Triple Crown Race -- Is Exaggerator A Bigger Favorite?
The betting public has kept Exaggerator, who will break from Gate 11, the favorite for the 148th Belmont Stakes but also shifted around the chances of his closest competitors before Saturday’s Triple Crown race in Elmont, New York.
The 3-year-old Curlin colt and Preakness Stakes victor saw his odds shift to 5/6 from 10/11 last week, and now is a 9-5 morning-line favorite after Wednesday's draw for the post positions at the New York Racing Association at Rockefeller Center.
Stradivari, who finished fourth at the Preakness, is the second favorite in the morning line at 5-1. Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist, of course, will not compete due to illness and was flown back to California.
Meanwhile, Suddenbreakingnews returns to the fold at 10/1 after sitting at 5/1 and 9/1, Cherry Wine jumps a tick from 8/1 to 7/1, and Governor Malibu plummeted from 13/2 to 15/1 and now sits at 12-1.
Seven of the 13 horses at Belmont competed at the Kentucky Derby. Forever d'Oro, Gettysburg, Governor Malibu and Seeking the Soul will make their Triple Crown debuts in New York.
