If the $30.3 million generated in midnight showings of "Breaking Dawn: Part 2" is any indication, Kristen Stewart has an overwhelmingly devoted fan base.

So it was no surprise earlier this month when Deadline reported that the 22-year-old is in talks to star alongside Ben Affleck in the upcoming romantic comedy "Focus."

According to the site, Stewart may portray a burgeoning con artist who teams with a more experienced grifter (Affleck).

Now E! is reporting that the highly acclaimed "Argo" director cannot confirm Stewart's involvement in the film but believes the "Twilight" sensation is "terrific."

“I am hesitant to get into casting stuff because I don’t know what’s finished or isn’t, because people come in and out of things all the time. But she’s terrific and hopefully it will work out.”

Affleck will soon be seen in Terrance Malick's "To the Wonder," opposite Rachel McAdams and Javier Bardem. He'll also star in next year's "Runner, Runner," with Justin Timberlake. The 40-year-old is currently earning tremendous Oscar buzz for "Argo," his third outing as a director.

Next month, Stewart will appear in the film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's beatnik classic "On the Road."

Since skyrocketing to international stardom after the 2008 release of "Twilight," she has starred in such indie dramas as "The Runaways" and "Welcome to the Rileys."

"Breaking Dawn: Part 2," marks the star's last outing as vampire-loving teen Bella Swan, and based on her recent statement, she is eager for more work.

"I'm kinda desperate to get a job right now," she told E! at the L.A. premiere of the film. "I'm itching to go back to work."

If Stewart does star in "Focus," it'll be her first comedy since the 2009 film "Adventureland."

"Focus" is set to be directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the team behind last year's critically acclaimed "Crazy, Stupid, Love."
