Ben Affleck-Jennifer Garner Divorce Update: Why The Couple Hasn’t Ended Their Marriage A Year After Split

It appears not much has changed with Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck’s divorce. The couple is reportedly no closer to officially ending their marriage now than they were a year ago.

Sources close to Affleck and Garner told TMZ that neither one has filed divorce papers or taken the necessary steps to end their marriage. The “Batman v Superman” actor and Garner announced their separation in June 2015. Ever since deciding to end their marriage, Affleck is said to be living in the guest house on their property while Garner remains in the main home with their three young children Violet, Seraphina and Samuel.

So what’s keeping Affleck and Garner from pulling the trigger on their marriage? TMZ reported that it mostly has to do with their children. According to the outlet both Affleck and Garner want to protect their kids and establish a structure for co-parenting. The source said the delay has nothing to do with them wanting to get back together, even though a reconciliation isn’t completely out of the question.

This week Us Weekly reported that Garner, 44, and Affleck, 43, were no longer discussing divorce. “Jen mentioned that the divorce was going through very soon, and then a few weeks ago, things changed,” a source close to the actress said. “It does not seem to be moving in that direction.”

The outlet also reported that the actor is now living in the main home with Garner and their kids but he sleeps in a separate bedroom. “Jen seems to still be in love with Ben but doesn’t allow her mind to go there,” the source said. “She just focuses on the kids.”

Even though Affleck and Garner called it quits, the once happily married couple seems to be getting along and was seen with their two daughters celebrating the Fourth of July in Pacific Palisades, California. ““[Ben] and [Jennifer] were sitting together watching the parade. They were not being affectionate,” a source told People magazine. “Ben and Violet were holding hands, and Ben was smiling watching the parade and walking around the community.”
