Ben Affleck Sent Jennifer Lopez Love Letters While She, Alex Rodriguez Were Engaged: Report

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez spent the weekend together, but he started reconnecting with his ex as early as February, a report claims.

The "Batman v Superman" star and Lopez were in "regular contact by email" since she began filming "Shotgun Wedding" with Josh Duhamel in the Dominican Republic, TMZ reported. At the time, Lopez was still engaged to Alex Rodriguez.

Affleck's emails were more "loving and longing for Jen" than friendly, unnamed sources with "direct knowledge" of the matter told the outlet.

When Affleck saw photos of Lopez in the Caribbean, he allegedly wrote to tell her how beautiful she was and how much he wished he could be down there with her, the report alleged. At the time, Affleck was in Boston filming the movie "The Tender Bar" with George Clooney.

The insiders claimed to TMZ that the emails also referenced Lopez's love for Affleck's writing and included a line about him being able to "own her heart" with his pen. Lopez and Affleck exchanged emails throughout the shooting of her film until it wrapped in late April, the report said.

That there was no physical contact or rendezvous between the exes at the time, sources said. However, the exchange of emails reportedly added context to their easy reconnection following her split from Rodriguez.

Lopez and the former MLB star briefly split in March, Page Six reported at the time. However, they reconciled immediately, with Rodriguez flying to the Dominican Republic to spend the weekend with Lopez.

However, last month, the pair officially called off their two-year engagement, saying they were better off as friends.

"We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so," they wrote in a joint statement. "We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another's children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support."

Weeks after Lopez and Rodriguez's split, reports surfaced that she and Affleck have been spending time together. The "Argo" star reportedly visited her multiple times at her home in Los Angeles.

Lopez and Affleck were also spotted spending Mother's Day weekend together in Big Sky, Montana.
