Ben Affleck is not fond of smoking pot because he had a bad experience with it when he was just a teenager.

Melissa Maerz is releasing a new book entitled "Alright, Alright, Alright: The Oral History of Richard Linklater's Dazed and Confused." The publication is the story of the iconic movie "Dazed and Confused" and combines behind-the-scenes photos and insights from the entire cast, including Matthew McConaughey, Parker Posey, Joey Lauren Adams, Affleck and more. In the book, Affleck shared that he didn't join the other cast members in smoking pot and drinking booze.

"I had a bad experience with marijuana at 15. I had a dissociative panic attack," Affleck shared as quoted by Page Six.

"So I only smoked weed if everyone else was smoking and I had to sort of Bill Clinton it and fake it. I didn’t really like marijuana."

The "Batman v Superman" star who has been struggling with alcohol abuse for years also admitted that he didn't drink too much when he was young and only had issues with it much later in life.

"I also wasn’t a very heavy drinker then," Affleck continued.

"I became an alcoholic much much later and I’m in recovery now, so that was a whole different time. I was a little nervous, like should we be drinking before we’re working tomorrow? Some people were actually drinking and stoned at work."

Affleck also recalled how the cast members would go to shooting ranges for fun. Since most of them were living in states with strict gun laws, they enjoyed the lenient rules in Texas. However, his perspective about guns already changed.

"Texas had extremely lax gun laws and most of us came from states where it was next to impossible to buy guns and part of the newfound freedom being down there was a bunch of us bought guns and went shooting at ranges on weekends, which seemed fun and innocent at the time, but given the subsequent tragedies with young people and guns, it makes me uncomfortable to remember," Affleck added.

Affleck was recently spotted packing on some PDA with his girlfriend Ana de Armas. The two were photographed kissing on a balcony while taking a break from reshooting scenes for their upcoming thriller movie “Deep Water.”
