Beyonce And Iggy Azalea On Tour: Rapper Announces She Will Join Australian Leg Of 'Mrs. Carter' World Tour
Australian-born rapper Iggy Azalea is teaming up with Beyonce for the Australian leg of the 31-year-old superstar’s world tour. They will have 17 tour dates together in Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, and Perth beginning Oct. 17.
Azalea announced the news via Twitter on Monday. “I’m going on tour… With Beyonce!” she tweeted. “That was my special news for Australia! Can’t wait to join this tour! Thank you so much to everyone for supporting me! and thanks Beyonce [sic]! And no, I’m not doing sideshows while I’m there. Sorry guys! But I can’t wait, night!!!
If someones good news, that doesn’t even effect [sic] your life, makes you mad. I honestly feel sorry for you! I’m celebrating!” she continued to write.
The 21-year-old should certainly be proud to add this to her growing resume, as she gets to work with one of the music industry’s top talents. Last year, Azalea was the first female and the first non-American rapper to be featured on the cover of hip-hop magazine XXL's annual Top 10 Freshmen issue, highlighting the top new artists to watch in the genre.
She was not known in the rap world until 2011, when she released her first mixtape, “Ignorant Art,” and she will likely sing her latest hits, “Work” and “Bounce” while on tour.
Beyonce is currently on her “Mrs. Carter” world tour, which began in April in Serbia. Her last major tour was in 2009 for her “I Am ..." world tour. In June, as a special surprise for her fans, Beyoncé added a Latin American itinerary to her tour in addition to new North American tour dates. She will now be on tour until Dec. 20.
