Beyonce’s First Interview Since Having Blue Ivy Carter: ‘Nothing Can Describe the Feeling’
UPDATE: Beyonce's rep insists the singer has not spoken publicly since giving birth and did not give an interview to Star UK. However, a Star UK editor stands by the story. We bought the interview from a reporter in the U.S. who conducted the interview with Beyonce before the birth, the editor, who was not named, told Access Hollywood. The reporter then obtained the 'top-up' info after the birth, which we believe to have been signed off by a girl on her LSM team.
Beyonce gave her first interview since giving birth to baby Blue Ivy Carter on Jan. 7. The songstress spoke to Star UK, saying that nothing can describe the feeling of motherhood.
Nothing can describe the feeling. You have the instant connection once you know your child is growing inside you, but when you hold it for the first time, the words can't be found, said Beyonce, who gave birth at New York City's Lenox Hill Hospital with husband Jay-Z by her side.
It's an old cliché that the thing expectant moms look forward to the most is holding their child in their arms for the first time, but it's one of those clichés that is a real truth.
She said that she felt an instant connection with daughter Blue Ivy.
Beyonce said Jay-Z is thrilled to be a father. I am so excited. From the time I knew I was pregnant we have been parents. A child is the greatest gift you can receive, and we are so excited and blessed to be in this situation.
He would not have missed it for anything. He is a very protective and loyal guy by nature. He is a very protective husband, and since we found out I was pregnant I have seen the protective father in him, she added.
He is not only an inspirational artist, he is an inspirational husband. I know the next step on his journey is going to be being an inspirational father. He will change diapers, of course he will. He is going to be a very hands-on father. He has already said publicly that providing isn't love. Love is being there. Love is doing the little things for your child.
We are all great, we are just glad to be going home and starting this new stage of our life, she said.
Beyonce said that close friend and Destiny's Child group member Kelly Rowland cannot wait to babysit.
The couple's other closest friends tweeted their joy. Gwyneth Paltrow confirmed the baby's arrival, writing, Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already. Others sent their congratulations. Congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z, tweeted Russell Simmons. Rihanna posted: Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih.
Beyonce wants Blue Ivy to have as normal a life as possible. The key for me is to work everything around your children and not the other way, she said.
At home, she'll be part of a normal, loving family with a loving mom, a loving dad, a loving aunt and loving grandparents, just like any other kid.
